Chloe Montgomery

Chloe splits her year between working as a soft tissue specialist for the Welsh Rugby
Team and as one of our dedicated Personal Trainers at Funktion.

“It’s great fun working with both the Welsh players and the team at Funktion gym. I have the best job, and I love what I do so much. I get to travel the world and meet new people all the time.”

Growing up around sport, Chloe was inspired by her dad, a professional rugby player. She enjoyed dancing, horse riding, swimming, and running. She went on to earn a degree in sports science, a Master’s in sports rehab at St Mary’s in Twickenham, and a Level 3 PT qualification. Chloe traveled to Australia before joining the Jersey Reds, first on a work-experience placement and then in a full-time position as a rehab specialist, pitch side.

“I was then offered a job in London working with Harlequins as a rehab therapist. It was an incredible opportunity, and I had an amazing time there for five years. Then the Welsh Rugby Team needed support for a week, so I stepped in. A year later, they asked me to join them for the World Cup and eventually offered me a full-time position. The team is amazing, like a family.”

Chloe loves helping to support and fix people when they’re injured.

“Most things can be fixed with a combination of treatment and exercise, obviously some injuries will need surgery however, the key to success is putting the work in. Life can be full-on and stressful, so a good workout helps let all that go. People work hard in my classes. No one is getting off lightly!”

Here are some fun Funktion facts about Chloe:

Favourite thing about Funktion: The people. It’s friendly. No egos.

Girl crush: Taylor Swift.

Boy crush: My boyfriend Dan.

What do people not know about you? I’m an open book, to be fair.

Favourite motivational catchphrase: The grass is always greener where you water it.

“I really enjoy bootcamp each morning, and I train with a group who are between the ages of 25 and 62; it’s fantastic. All the trainers are so enthusiastic, welcoming and they get the best out of you.”

Andy
“As a ‘plus size’ woman, it can be intimidating to go to a gym for fear of being judged. In the past, I have worked with PTs who have made the assumption that my goal is purely weight loss, which is pretty patronising when my actual goals are around strength, mobility and confidence! It’s not everyone’s goal to simply get skinny! Funktion has tailored a programme bespoke to me and my goals, without a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach.”

Steph
“I keep coming back to Funktion because I get results. I’m fitter, stronger and better than I would be otherwise and have less pain from injuries. The functional rehab training I have received is phenomenal. I have gone from being on crutches to extreme sports.”

Robin
“If you want a tailored individual approach and want immediate impact, then you should come to Funktion. The personal trainers’ combined knowledge is exceptional.”

Neil
“I was recommended Funktion by a physio to assist with some strength and conditioning as I had a bad back from too much office chair sitting. Through innovative sessions I have seen amazing results and have had no concerns in the last couple of years.”

Tom
“I think Funktion Fitness is a winner because of the professional yet fun approach of the PT team.”
